Responsibility

One hundred or two hundred years ago when people ate something is was because they were hungry. Today people purchase something to eat because they saw a commercial that told them it was "GOOD". Back then if you ate something the potential of it actually having nutritional value was greater because the potential of it being raw or less processed was much greater since the technology wasn't available then.
People believe that just because they stick something in their mouth that they are going to get something out of it and with all the processing that is going on today no-thing is further from the truth. It is really kind of sad to believe that we are supposed to be getting smarter, learning more doing things faster and there are more serious health problems than ever before.
People seem to be taking less responsibility for their actions and their body is paying for it. Convenience is replacing good choices. The "if it is quicker it must be better philosophy is taking over" and people are paying for it by ignoring the basic facts that most food products that are in a container are dead by the time they get to their mouth.
How can we be getting smarter and better if we treat ourselves with such disregard? Sure people have computers that work 20 times faster than the model from last year but our body is having to go farther on less fuel.
When does the insanity stop? People appear to age faster, skin sagging, nails stop growing and their hair is falling out. There are so many people my age that are on disability. There are more people now than ever before that are in their 40's that call themselves retired and I don't think it is from winning the lottery or making a million dollars last year.
